Nanotech Works - Alumni Success Stories
Friday, March 25, 2011
1:00 - 2:30 p.m. EST
NOTE: This webinar will be archived and available on the Alumni Network website.
Description of the webinar:
Undergraduate level programs in nanotechnology have been in existence now for over ten years.
How is the hands-on training in nanotechnology assisting alumni of these programs, and how is it
providing American industry with a much needed skill set? This webinar will review data on alumni from
nanotechnology programs, and alumni will share their success stories and discuss what they are doing
now. The webinar will also focus on the NACK Center's Alumni Network, which was developed to help
graduates of nanotechnology degree programs enhance their professional opportunities.

Albuquerque, New Mexico
The inaugural Micro Nano Tech (MNT) Conference will be hosted by the Southwest Center for
Microsystems Education (SCME) at the University of New Mexico on May 9-11, 2011. This is a faculty-
focused conference that features information on micro and nanotechnologies, the resources available
for classrooms, and new technologies on the horizon. Other centers sponsoring this conference include
Nano-Link from Dakota County Technical College in Minnesota, MATEC NetWorks from Maricopa
Community Colleges in Arizona, and NEATEC from Hudson Valley Community College in New York.
The conference will feature a Panel of Alumni from Micro and Nanotechnology Programs.
Three alumni will talk about the types of jobs that are available to graduates from these emerging
technology programs and the types of skills are required for micro and nanotechnologists. They will
share their success stories and discuss their career paths in both industry and transfer programs to
further their education.

The High Impact Technology Exchange Conference (HI-TEC) conference is a unique opportunity for
community and technical college educators as well as current students, alumni and industry stakeholders
seeking professional development opportunities, educational materials, collaborative ventures, and
insights into emerging market trends to develop and advance the technical workforce in the 21st century.
Keynote speakers, workshops, conference sessions, poster sessions, and a technology showcase will
be included in the conference program. There are several sessions scheduled on nanotechnology.
Presenters will include representatives from Penn State and Dakota County Technical College as well as
other colleges participating in the NACK and Nano-Link Centers.
