2011 NACK Workshops

Hands-on Introduction to Nanotechnology for Educators

Join us and explore the world of nanotechnology. Participants will learn about the growing applications of nanotechnology in many industries including the biotechnology, MEMS, optoelectronics, chemical, and nanoelectronics industries. The basics of nanofabrication processes and tools will be covered and emphasized through processing labs held in the class 10 cleanrooms of the Penn State Nanofabrication Facility and the CNEU Teaching Cleanroom.

This workshop is designed for: Post-Secondary, Secondary Science, Technology, and Vocational-Technical Educators; Guidance Counselors; School Administrators, and others.

  • April 5-7, 2011: Click here to register.
  • November 15-17, 2011: Click here to register.

The workshop registration fee is $500. Financial support may be available to qualified applicants.

Financial support to attend the workshop may be available if you are community/technical college faculty member at an associate degree granting community or technical college, or you are a faculty member at a baccalaureate degree granting institution working with a community/ technical college and your institution does not have NSF Advanced Technological Education (ATE) funding that could support your participation in this activity.

Nanotechnology Course Resource Workshops

A series of two workshops, the Nanotechnology Course Resource Workshops have been designed to provide post-secondary faculty and administrators with the resources needed to effectively teach undergraduate nanotechnology courses. These workshops were formerly known as our "Train the Trainer" Workshops. Please note that it does not matter which workshop is attended first.

This workshop is valued at $1,700. Applicants who are accepted will be granted a fellowship to attend the workshop which includes: workshop registration fee, breakfast/lunch, travel (airfare up to $750) and lodging. Click on the links below for the application and to see more details on the workshops. Space is limited, register early!
